After traveling to Nashville to see LeAnn at a free festival, my friends and I stood amidst 35,000 people in the heat of summer. As a gay guy, it became hard to enjoy my day after one musician decided to start bashing gays. His negative opinions about homosexuals seemed to last forever as he told the crowd that gays weren't real people and that we were only "evil spirits latching on to people." It was horrible to hear 35,000 people cheer him on and realize how much hate could be directed towards me at one time. Later, LeAnn took the stage and performed WICC.It was the 1st time I heard this song and as soon as she sang "I will learn to love what I cannot change" all the hate went away.

This song has helped me cope with my overbearing mother-in-law. I truly believe she can't help herself and will try harder to forgive her possessive ways with her son.
Thanks Le. This song puts a focus on what's important in our lives and to live them the best we can and understand we can't change people, just accept them and hope they accepts us, warts and all.

My mother and I have always had a very close relationship. That is until 4 years ago when I decided it was time to tell her that I am gay. I knew going into that conversation that it was going to be difficult, but I was not in any way prepared for my mother's reaction. We live in different states, so I had to tell her over the phone. When I told her, she hung up on me. When I called back she answered, "what do you want, $#@!?" Long story short, our relationship was never the same. I have fought depression over this for years. First time I heard "What I Cannot Change", my whole life changed. I sent the song to my mom and now things are almost back to normal. Thank you, LeAnn!!

I first heard this song when you sang it at the Del Mar Fair. It was the prettiest song I had ever heard. I remember you started crying onstage and it made me choke up as well. The lyrics are beautiful. Whenever I hear it, its like what you said, the chorus is a great lesson for all of us to learn. The song has really helped me through hard times either when Im upset or just frustrated with the world. I learn that I have to let go, forgive, and love what I cannot change. Thanks so much for writing this amazing and touching song LeAnn.
Love Lauryn
