Pride
June 18, 2011

I love performing live—especially when the crowds really get into it and show their appreciation. Pride fest was one of those magical shows where I felt an overwhelming amount of love coming from an audience. I think you're all very aware that I believe in equality for everyone. I believe everyone should have the right to love and commit to whomever they want.  Who put us on a pedestal to judge others? I've been judged for various reasons throughout my life and I can tell you it doesn't feel good. So I can only imagine what gay men and women go through in our society, but I hope we are starting to become a more accepting world.

When performing "What I Cannot Change" for my encore, I just lost it... When I looked down—and saw so many men and women crying, I just felt their pain, their joy, their love. I hope anyone who was there with me that night felt the outpouring of love coming from my heart. All I know is that in Gods eyes we are all the same. I just wish we could see through the eyes of God more often.
